# Setup

# Gmail – Integration Setup

This guide walks you through securely connecting your Gmail account to Antei. Once connected, Antei will extract only tax-relevant emails and notices to support automation and compliance workflows.

## Authentication Method

Antei connects to Gmail using **OAuth 2.0** via Google's secure identity platform.

* **Type:** OAuth 2.0 (Authorization Code Flow)
* **Scopes Requested:**
  * `readonly` access to email headers, attachments, and structured metadata
* **Data Access:** No read/write on body content or personal inboxes
* **Security:** All tokens are encrypted and scoped per workspace

> 🔐 Antei is SOC 2 compliant. Email access is scoped and logged. No forwarding or content-level permissions are requested.

## Step-by-Step Setup

### 1. Navigate to Integrations → Gmail

Go to **Integrations** in the Antei dashboard and click **Connect Gmail**.

### 2. Authorize Access via Google

You’ll be redirected to the Google OAuth consent screen. Select your Gmail account and approve the requested scopes.

### 3. Configure Email Filters

Once connected, choose the scope of what Antei can extract:

* **Senders or Labels** – e.g. gov.in domains, [finance@company.com](mailto:finance@company.com)
* **Attachment Types** – PDFs, .zip, or invoice metadata
* **Time Window** – Choose to sync emails from the past 3, 6, or 12 months

> ✅ No email body content is parsed unless explicitly mapped for structured fields.

## Verification & Testing

After setup, Antei performs:

* ✅ Email sync test – Header fetch + label verification
* ✅ PDF test – Attachment extraction & classification
* ✅ Log entry in **Settings → Logs**

**What kind of emails does Antei read?**\
Only those from configured domains or folders that match compliance, tax, or finance workflows.

**Does Antei read email body content?**\
No. Only header metadata and attachments are accessed. Parsing body content requires explicit configuration.

**Is Gmail access read-only?**\
Yes. Antei never modifies or forwards any emails.

**Can I disconnect Gmail anytime?**\
Yes. Disconnect from either Antei’s dashboard or from **Google → Security → Third-party App Access**.
